Baby Shower Games: Three Fun Ideas

This is the article to read if you are looking for some good baby shower game ideas. It can be hard to come up with a game themed for the baby shower and you don’t want to have fall back on generic party games for this unique event.

A good start off game is the ‘Baby’s Name’ contest. The guests can get into groups if they like or can work individually. Take the names of mommy and daddy-to-be and have the groups work to create fun and interesting acronyms of letters in the parents names to be the name for the new baby. The rules are very loose. You can decide to force the groups to use all the letters in the parent’s names or can let them pick and choose letters for the baby’s name. You can even let them use the parent’s last names in creating. The best names are the winners and you can hand out extra party favors.

Later on, say around mealtime you can start another fun game called ‘Baby’s Bottle.’ Hand out baby bottles filled with liquid to guests who want to participate. Then, have a contest to see who can suck on the baby bottle and empty out all the liquid the fastest. It’s not as easy to do as it sounds and guests will certainly find themselves dividing into groups of cheerleaders, cheering on their favorite contestants.

When it gets to be time to open the gifts hand out sheets of pink or blue construction paper for ‘Baby Bingo!’ Divide the paper into four, nine or sixteen square sections. The number of sections depends on how many gifts the soon-to-be parents will open at the party. Before anybody starts opening gifts have the guests draw or write the names of various gifts they think the mommy and daddy will receive. One gift per square, please. Then, as the parents open their gifts guests can place a poker chip or mark an ‘X’ on the squares that match their gift predictions. The first guest to complete an entire row wins a prize.
