Baby Shower Invitations

When you’re responsible for throwing a baby shower, one of the most important things to remember are the baby shower invitations! The first thing you need to think about is the theme of your baby shower. All the invitations need to reflect this theme. Is it going to be a boy or a girl, or is it a surprise? Is the nursery going to be decorated with ducks or bears? What colors should be incorporated? All of these are very important questions that you need to ask yourself when planning for a baby shower.

The mother’s personal preferences should also be taken into account. Does she like bold and bright colors, or is she into subdued pastels? If you’re unsure, ask those that know her best. After all, the shower is about the mother and her child, and the baby shower invitations are likely to appear in the baby’s scrapbook – an eternal memento of the baby’s first party.

Once the theme has been planned, it’s time to prepare the baby shower invitations. Will you make your own or order printed invitations? Whatever you decide, remember that baby shower invitations need to be sent out weeks in advance and should list all the important information, such as time, date, location, and RSVP information. Are men allowed at the event? You need to make sure this is noted on the baby shower invitations if they are. Also be sure to include any locations where mother and baby may be registered.

Creating baby shower invitations yourself is always an option, but for truly special baby shower invitations that will be treasured, hiring an expert or a printing company may be the best way to go.

Whatever you decide, you should make a special keepsake for the new mom with these baby shower invitations. One of the most creative ways to give the mother a special gift would be to make a small display box with the invitation displayed along with little baby-related trinkets such as a rattle and diaper pins. This will help get the mother-to-be started on saving all the precious memories that are soon to come with the arrival of her child.

Baby Shower Invitations

Few times are more special in a woman's life than the last weeks she spends anticipating the birth of a new baby. It is a time for dreaming, hoping, and planning. For generations, women have gathered to celebrate new arrivals with baby showers. Anyone planning on throwing a baby shower for a prospective mother should choose very carefully when selecting the perfect baby shower invitations. Custom designed baby shower invitations are the most personal way to celebrate the singular anticipation and enormity of impending motherhood. Any mother-to-be will appreciate the extra effort and cherish her baby shower invitations for years to come.

Baby shower invitations and baby announcements should be more than pieces of mail to open and toss aside-they should be precious keepsakes. There are lots of prepackaged baby shower cards on the market, but an event so special calls for something more unique. When you choose letterpress baby shower invitations, you are choosing a printing process that is centuries old. This timeless method is distinctive in that there is actually a visible impression where the lettering and design are imprinted on the paper. Letterpress is a form of relief printing in which a computer is employed to create a photopolymer plate with a raised design. The plate is inked and pressed onto the paper, creating an unmistakable 3-D impression. The receiver of a letterpress card knows she is holding something different in her hand.

Letterpress may be a time-honored process for creating fine baby shower invitations, but modern embellishments may be added to create any look you like. Using a mother's favorite color, choosing a distinctive lettering style, or adding ribbons or pockets lets you custom design the perfect card. There are lots of ways to personalize your baby shower invitations, from whimsical to elegant.

Baby shower invitations should reflect the singular preciousness of any impending birth. The moment a receiver opens a letterpress invitation, it stands out as unique. A baby shower is not an every day occasion. Baby shower invitations should be more than every day cards; they should be works of art.

Baby Shower Invitations - Invitation To A Joyful Event

Baby shower invitations require a certain etiquette that you might not be aware of and for such an important event, it's good to know exactly what kind of information to include. An invitation to a baby shower can set the tone or the baby shower theme of the party itself before guests even arrive at the party.

Consider the way you are going to deliver the baby shower invitations. The best method is to use the written invite, as it is a perfect reminder for guests to pin up on a board or on their fridge.

Baby shower invitations should include pertinent information, such as the name of the mom-to-be and the date, time, and location of the event. The address and phone number need to be indicated as well. A separate slip of paper with a map or clear directions should be mailed with the baby shower invitation.

It is very important that you send out your invitations early enough to give guests both time to decide and to respond to the baby shower invitations. Three to four weeks before the party is the standard time frame. You might want to send invitations even earlier if the baby shower is to be held during the summer months or holiday season when people plan vacations or have other responsibilities.

If you have a particular baby shower theme, the invitation is a great way to highlight it. Choose the baby shower invitations to match the color or theme of the party, and also clearly indicate on the invitations if there is a particular theme guests should keep in mind.

Note if the mom-to-be is listed with a gift registry and do provide that information on the invitation, but jot down a quick note that there is no obligation for guests to purchase items on the registry. Guests can make their own choice whether they would like to use the registry for gift ideas.

You can have guests bring items to include in a gift basket for the guest of honor. A gift basket baby shower theme has endless possibilities. For example, if mom already has a lot of baby gear, you might consider throwing a shower that is just for pampering the mom.

Candles, soaps, or bubble bath are all great choices. With two or more children, mom will be especially appreciative of a gift that makes her life easier or gives an excuse for some leisure time. Babysitting or housecleaning certificates, meals, gift cards to dine out, or a good book to read all qualify. Including theme information on the baby shower invitations will make gift shopping a breeze.

Many parents-to-be opt to find out before birth whether the child will be a boy or a girl. You might want to consider this information when choosing the baby shower decoration or designing the baby shower invitations. If you do, indicate if the mother-to-be has a color preference.

Perhaps the baby is to be a girl, but the color pink is not one of her favorite colors. As hostess, you'd probably choose to stay away from that color for your decorations and guests can avoid picking up clothes or gifts in that color.

Written baby shower invitations can be used to tie all aspects of the baby shower together. They announce the baby shower theme, match the baby shower decorations and so much more.

There are many types of baby shower invitations on the market, and a hostess can even choose to design or create an invitation unique to the celebration or mom's personality. It will make the celebration even more special.

Baby Shower Games

Baby showers are a fun way to welcome a baby into the world and are great occasions for the parents-to-be to receive the wishes of all their friends. Generally given by friends and co-workers, baby showers are much more than just a party. They provide a chance for the guests to have a get together and maybe even meet the new baby.

Baby shower parties usually last for 2-3 hours depending on the number of guests and the kind of party. They can have any number of guests from five to more than a hundred. It is a good idea to have a few games in the party, as they are a lot of fun and also act as ice-breakers. They are a good way to interact wherein experienced parents can throw in advice for the parents-to-be. There can be two to four games planned in a baby shower and some small prizes to give the winners. However, the main idea is not to win or lose but to be as creative as possible and to make the party as much fun as possible.

A few common baby shower games are the Name Game (forming words with letters in baby names), Feeding Time! (while blindfolded try to scoop cotton balls), Rice Bowl (try to find safety pins in rice while blindfolded), Baby Guests (match each guest to their baby photo), Baby Bingo (bingo with baby words instead of numbers), Shower Gift Bingo (bingo played during gift opening), Round the Tummy (guests estimate size of mommy's tummy), It's in the Bag (guess what items are only by touch), Off Limits! (certain action or word off limits during shower), Baby Food Game (identifying baby foods based on their appearance), Scrambled (unscrambling baby-related words), Poopy Diaper (guess which candy bars are melted in a diaper) etc.

Before planning the games, it is wise to have all information about the number of guests who are expected to attend the party. All the supplies required for the games such as pens, paper, and other items have to the ready before the guests arrive. Keep a few spare supplies in case more guests turn up than expected. Small prizes can be awarded to the guests, including candles, potpourri, picture frames, food goodies like candy, bath soaps, and decorative flowers.

Baby Shower Games: Three Fun Ideas

This is the article to read if you are looking for some good baby shower game ideas. It can be hard to come up with a game themed for the baby shower and you don’t want to have fall back on generic party games for this unique event.

A good start off game is the ‘Baby’s Name’ contest. The guests can get into groups if they like or can work individually. Take the names of mommy and daddy-to-be and have the groups work to create fun and interesting acronyms of letters in the parents names to be the name for the new baby. The rules are very loose. You can decide to force the groups to use all the letters in the parent’s names or can let them pick and choose letters for the baby’s name. You can even let them use the parent’s last names in creating. The best names are the winners and you can hand out extra party favors.

Later on, say around mealtime you can start another fun game called ‘Baby’s Bottle.’ Hand out baby bottles filled with liquid to guests who want to participate. Then, have a contest to see who can suck on the baby bottle and empty out all the liquid the fastest. It’s not as easy to do as it sounds and guests will certainly find themselves dividing into groups of cheerleaders, cheering on their favorite contestants.

When it gets to be time to open the gifts hand out sheets of pink or blue construction paper for ‘Baby Bingo!’ Divide the paper into four, nine or sixteen square sections. The number of sections depends on how many gifts the soon-to-be parents will open at the party. Before anybody starts opening gifts have the guests draw or write the names of various gifts they think the mommy and daddy will receive. One gift per square, please. Then, as the parents open their gifts guests can place a poker chip or mark an ‘X’ on the squares that match their gift predictions. The first guest to complete an entire row wins a prize.

Baby Shower Games - Celebrate Your Impending Arrival In Style

Pregnancy and impending motherhood can be one of the most amazing times of your life. What better way to celebrate the occasion than to host a baby shower? Games can add loads of laughs and memories to the occasion; here are a few ideas to get started.

"Don't Drop the Baby!!" Baby Shower Game

This, more than other baby shower games, is particularly good if you’ve got a decent-sized backyard. Before the party, gather together a plastic doll, toy cordless phone (wouldn’t want the real one to break!), peg-basket and laundry-basket full of baby clothes. Each guest is given a short amount of time (1-2 minutes) to hang as many clothes up as they can while holding the “baby” and cradling the phone between their ear and shoulder. The player who can hang up the most washing without dropping the “baby” or the phone is the winner of this great baby shower game.

"Diaper-Sniffing Contest" Baby Shower Game

At any good baby shower, games involving diapers are almost a pre-requisite. This one is good for photo opportunities! Place different kinds of distinctive-smelling foods (different types of chocolate or candy, peanut butter, garlic and cinnamon sticks are all good) into individual diapers and wrap them up. Guests sit in a circle and must pass the diapers around, smell each one and write down what they think the contents of the diaper is. The object of this baby shower game is to be the player with the most correct answers.

When planning a baby shower, games are an important element to consider. With a sense of humor and a bit of lateral thinking, you can plan games that your guests will thoroughly enjoy.

Fun and Memorable Baby Shower Games and Activities

So, you’re planning a baby shower. You’ve decided on a theme and sent out your invitations. You have selected the decorations, ordered the cake, and planned your menu. Now it’s time to decide what to do with your guests besides open gifts and eat! There are a number of fun and interesting baby shower games you can choose from, as well as some creative activities to make the baby shower unforgettable. Remember that Small Fry infant mobiles make adorable shower decorations and can be a wonderful gift for the new baby.

Diaper Changing 101

With two large baby dolls, let guests race to see who can change the baby’s diaper the fastest. Supply each area with wipes, powder, and a clean diaper, as well as a blanket to wrap baby in when she’s done.

Variation: Change the diapers in teams of two. One person stands in front of the baby with their hands behind their back while the other teammate reaches around them and changes the baby. This can be really funny!

What’s the Flavor?

Remove the label from several jars of various types of baby food and number each jar. On an out of sight paper, list the flavor of each jar beside the appropriate number. Give each guest a numbered piece of paper and a spoon, then pass around the jars of food. Guests should try to guess the correct flavor of each jar by the color, scent, or taste of the food and record their answer. Consider a door prize for the guest who gets the most correct.

I’m Having a Baby!

Before the baby shower, freeze tiny babies or baby items inside ice cubes. Give each guest a cube inside their punch or in a small cup of water. The guest whose cube melts first and frees the tiny object should shout, “My water broke!” and claim their door prize.

Variation: Instruct the guests to melt the ice cube in their mouth rather than a glass. Just take care not to include any young guests who may swallow the object!

Make a Memory

Crafty baby shower goers will enjoy creating a group craft for the baby as the main focus of the shower. You can make a quilt for the baby with each guest personalizing their own square or design a unique wall hanging for the nursery together. You may also consider hosting the baby shower at an art studio that offers group lessons, like a pottery shop, or even arrange a crafting workshop for the shower at a local craft store.

Shhh! Baby’s Sleeping!

Give each guest a diaper pin or clothespin when they arrive and ask them to pin it to their shirt. As everyone walks around and mingles, they have to take care not to say the word baby. Anyone who hears someone say the word takes a pin from that guest. Before guests start to leave, announce the winner who has the most pins and award a prize.

These include making a baby shower Crossword Puzzle, a Word Search and a Word Scramble.

One of the reasons that games are so useful at a baby shower is they are great small time fillers. For example you want filler for that awkward time between the first guest arriving and the rest of the guests arriving. Often one or two of the guests that come early have to sit around and twiddle there thumbs and if they don’t already know each other this can be really painful to watch and crash your party before it ever gets started. Elementary school teachers know that to keep people paying attention you need some quick activity to draw them in and get them involved. You also want some games at your disposal that are just in case have an extra few minute types of games. You don't want to expend a ton of effort or money on these extra games but boy are they handy if the food arrives late or there is some other catastrophe that needs to be taken care of. Simply hand the guests one of these pre-made activities and then you can be free to take care of whatever might arise.

Well, the cheapest, easiest and quickest way to get some fun extra free baby shower games is to look online. Yet we are not advocating you look for free baby shower games. Instead take a little time and do some searching around for a puzzle maker. Teachers use these all the time in the classroom to generate a crossword or word search with the new vocabulary for the lesson they just taught. It makes great homework and good time filler also. So look online for a crossword creator or a word search maker. Discover Channel has a great free puzzle maker for teachers that can also be used for making baby shower games.

Once you have found the puzzle generator it is pretty easy to simply plug in the word that fit with the baby shower. Part of the fun of these is to personalize the words and make them relevant to the baby shower. So things like the Mother and Fathers name. The baby's due date or possible name. Then you can also use some generic baby things like bottle, rattle, formula, crib and so on. The more specific and personalized you can be the better. This can also serve as somewhat of an ice breaker activity. As the guests fill out the crossword puzzle or word search they learn more about the parents to be.

Now that you have generated a crossword puzzle and have you words in you can easily go in and create other activities using the puzzle creator. Next you will want to add some finishing touches and spice things up a bit. You can do this by copying the crossword puzzle or word search and then pasting it into your text editor like word and etc. Then add a few little piece of clip art to really add a final touch.

Then you will want to either print a copy for every guest or have it copied at a local copy or office supply shop. You can keep these in a folder ready to go and then just pull them out when you need them.

You ask all of your guests to sit in a circle and get a stereo playing lullaby music. The guest who is holding the package when the music stops gets to remove a single layer of tissue paper while telling a sill baby story from past experiences. You can also play where the person holding the package gives the expecting mother some useful words of advice.

Another great game to play at a baby shower is called down in one. This is where you pass around a baby body that is filled with milk to see who can drink it the fastest. However you have to suck on it as a baby does and will likely see how tough this can be!

You and your guests can also play a great game called a letter for baby. In this game you choose a letter randomly by stabbing at a book with a pencil. Once this is done then everyone needs to write down a boy’s name, girl’s name, baby item, and nursery song that starts with that letter. If you have the same answer as someone else then it cancels each other out. The one who has the most unique answers is the winner.

Fun And Free Printable Baby Shower Games

It is always a challenge at the beginning of planning a baby shower what games to play. Of course, you want it to be fun and creative and not too lame. As well, you are considering the costs, so free is always better. The solution I have for you is finding some free printable baby shower games.

They are not difficult to find on the Internet. What is also great is that you can easily print out the game instructions and have them with you at the party and ready to pass out the game pieces.

There are all types of games that are appropriate at different points in such a party. You can have door prize games, for example. Also, there are themed games (religious, seasonal), name games, baby feature games, nursery games, etc.

If you prefer other games, then feel free to make up your own. We all have creative talents. By coming up with your own game ideas, you can easily think of others. It is really not that difficult. For that matter, just about anything can be turned into a game. All that it really takes is being silly. For example, here is one I recently made up, but I'm sure it's not original to the world of ideas out there by any means.

The game is called Baby Spelling Bee. It is not a contest, like regular competitive spelling bees. Instead, I just take the idea of having to use your brain to decipher the scrambled letters to make out real words or phrases. Here are the directions to the game...

Create a list of about 20 or 30 baby-related words. Mix up the letters and phrases randomly for each word. Take the list, and print out multiples of them to pass out to your guests. This may be a timed game if you like, and the first guest to rearrange the words properly wins. You can also create more words and place them on sheets of paper to hand out.

Now, there is really no genius to it, is there? That is my whole point. Baby shower parties are meant to lighten the heart, encourage participation and evoke laughs. I bet if a room fool of females played that game, that there would be a few laughs at the very least.

You can easily find free printable baby shower games. Just have a look around Online. They are not difficult to set up, and they are very cost-effective. You’ll find that playing these games at the baby shower party is great fun.

Super Fun Baby Shower Games to Keep the Laughter Going

Of all the resources out there for baby shower game ideas, the list is definitely by no means lacking; however, there is always room to add a few time tested favorites that will make sure your baby shower guests' attention doesn't stray from the festivities. Try out these hilarious games that will keep everyone's interest at bay!

Diaper Pins & Rice -- Use a large bowl and fill with an entire bag of white rice. Use standard safety pins or diaper pins and mix well with the rice. Have a guest sit down in a chair and be blindfolded. Tell the guest they have two minutes to find as many diaper pins as possible strictly by sifting through the rice using hands only. Whoever finds the most diaper pins within the two minutes of all the participants wins the game. This is not as easy as it sounds but is so much fun to watch and giggle.

Grab Bag Surprise -- Take some common baby items and put one item in a brown paper lunch bag and staple shut. Number the bags and keep a separate list hidden so you know what is in each bag by the number. Give each guest a sheet of paper and pencil to write with and pass each bag around to all the guests. Ask them to write down what is in each bag simply by feeling the bag. Squeezing and shaking the bag is allowed, but no trying to peek inside. The guest who gets the most answers right wins. Try to make the baby items unique in shape and size so it's not the easiest to guess. Some great suggestions would be a baby thermometer, medicine dispenser, bulb syringe, mini bottle of powder, little food dipper, nail clippers and unique shaped tube of diaper cream.

Diaper Duty Countdown -- Granted the skills needed for this game doesn't have to apply in real life after the baby comes home; however, it's a great way to turn up the laughter. Get a medium sized baby doll (large enough that a size 1 diaper would fit properly) and a supply of diapers, 1 per guest is sufficient. Ask each guest to try their hand at changing the baby's diaper in record time. A certain level of consistency with the quality of the diaper change needs to be assessed to determine the winner here. Whoever properly changes the diaper in the fastest amount of time wins. The best part is, the diapers can be given to the expectant mom.

I hope you will try out these super fun baby shower games and find them to be a big hit at your baby shower. Just remember that imagination is key to coming up with some great games that will have everyone cracking up. Just don't make the mom-to-be laugh so hard that her water breaks!
